• Ogilvy Mexico, dazzles in the recent edition of the Effies Awards Mexico 2021 being awarded as the "Agency of the Year"

• Ogilvy Mexico is crowned victorious as "Agency of the Year" and is awarded with 5 Effies

The agency led by Verónica Hernández and creatively led by Jessica Apellániz, is full of creative talent and the outstanding team was recognized as "Agency of the Year" at the prestigious Effies 2021 ceremony, held virtually on December 7th & 8th.

"To have been awarded Agency of the Year at Effies 2021 fills us with satisfaction and pride. It was a year and a context still very complicated in many ways and to have had this achievement in these circumstances is an even greater merit. Endless thanks to the great team that was behind the great cases registered, thanks to our clients and partners, for their trust and teamwork and thanks to the AVE for this recognition. Effies is one of the most important recognitions for our industry where it is shown that great ideas have great business results," said Verónica Hernández, CEO Ogilvy Mexico & Miami. This award is for the entire Ogilvy Mexico team," she concluded.

In addition to obtaining this distinction, Ogilvy Mexico continues to grow in success taking home 5 Effies, 3 silver and 2 bronze,  corresponding to the following categories: "Brand Experience" with its “Mazda vs Mazda” campaign, for Mazda Motor de Mexico; "Innovation  in business, products or services" and "Crisis Management" with the “1,8” campaign for Cerveza Victoria; also in the category  "Innovation in business and products or services" with its “Vicky Chamoy”  campaign,  for Cerveza Victoria too and; finally, in the category "Thematic or circumstantial marketing (Scheduled or conjunctural events)"  with  “Icnocuícatl”, a work for the same client.

"Creativity has no borders and, winning the recognition of the “Agency of the Year” in a festival as important as the Effies is a sign of the results of that creativity," said Jessica Apellániz, CCO Ogilvy Mexico & LATAM. "Thanks to the great creative team that day by day gives the best of itself and to our clients for their trust”, she concluded.

Finally, Michelle Quintanilla, Planning Director, commented:  "I am happy and very proud that we have winners who not only work on traditional campaigns, as this shows the evolution that Ogilvy is experiencing, a necessary transformation to face the challenges that the brands and the industry are experiencing; today is the time to provide effective solutions beyond a beautiful TV ad"

With these recognitions Ogilvy Mexico continues to shine and stand out as a Leading Agency in the market.

The winning cases are:

Icnocuícatl, a campaign created for the Day of the Dead to commemorate those who left without being able to say goodbye. This campaign, based on a Nahuatl poem, shows that understanding the cultural context is essential to adapt to the circumstances and to achieve a significant role as a brand in a very complicated time. With different actions, tools were provided to honor those who left, efforts that allowed to touch the heart of the audience by increasing the positive feeling towards the brand (97%) and the recognition of it (+6%).

Victoria 1.8 is an innovation that arises from a health crisis that hit the industry. Its creation reflects on one hand, the union, resilience and, creativity of Mexicans and, on the other the agility of the response of a company, offering an alternative to consumers and a solution to the value chain of the industry before the prohibition of production and sale of beer. With this, Victoria 1,8 became a successful business that slowed the fall in sales, increased the Share of Mind of the brand by 1.5%, reactivated the economy and strengthened the Low alcohol category in Mexico.

Vicky Chamoy is another innovation of Cerveza Victoria that drives the creation of a new family of beers where the mixture is fundamental to enjoy. With this innovation, it was possible to connect with younger audiences that have changed the way of consuming alcoholic beverages and who treasure the characteristic flavors of Mexico. Its reception was so positive that it exceeded the planned sales by 23%.

Mazda vs Mazda, is a brand experience that achieved the unthinkable, entering the homes of potential customers in a time of confinement where the automotive industry was really being hit. Taking advantage of its presence in the Gran Turismo video game, a series of tests was designed which revived a historical milestone of the brand, its participation in the Le Mans circuit in 1991, managing to connect with the passions of a young segment. With this, Mazda secured test drives for almost 1,000 hours, organically and without interruptions, as well as registrations of young people interested in the brand.
